I've got my computer back after a lengthy ordeal with two severe storms (one more on the way) and a power outage. I was lighting candles with McDonald's straw wrappers coated in wax and operating a 1960s five-wave transistor by the end of this, people. But I got it back - and holy fuck, my upgrades. It purrs like a KITTEN. It boots in about five seconds (before, about two minutes) and everything is there! EVERYTHING! Everything I lost, is back, at least, I hope so. <3 And I have a desktop drive, not just a backup drive, that they threw in for the hell of it. A fucking Seagate inside my machine and two of them out, plus a WD backup drive.

Yay, I am so happy for you..glad your up and running again...also had to take a magnifying glass to read your small print and what are you trying to do burn your place down lol..that is so dangerous.. I almost lost my son and my 1 year old grandson at the time..from a house fire just with a candle..we don't use candle's anymore in any of our places..it still haunts us..after 14 years..

Please do be careful..but am glad your back up and running..

I was absolutely careful, I actually have a deformed/crooked right middle finger from setting my hand on fire with a candle as an infant, and almost fell into a campfire twice at the age of two. I'm actually way more cautious around fire than most - it was on a fireproof-coated table, on a porcelain plate, with nothing around it, and was never left alone for a second. My dad works on emergency vehicles and we're very, very safe about it. We actually almost never light candles, but we don't have working flashlights right now.

I'm really sorry about the house fire. We've had really bad forest fires in my country that razed entire towns to the ground and I know how traumatic it can be to see everything go - just from something like a cigarette, an ash, a candle. I actually am even wary around gas stoves, fireplaces, lighters... I don't need to remind myself that fire is dangerous after my entire finger sits wrong on my hand and has a hard lump of tissue where a part of the bone should be inside. Outside, it just looks crooked, but inside it's pretty screwed up apparently.

omgosh..that's bad but am glad you didn't get seriously hurt..I worked in a burn unit at a University Hospital for 3 months..never worked with the patients just filing papers and photos of burns and omgosh you have to have a seriously strong stomach doing that..I cried when I seen babies and young kids mostly with 1st-3rd degree burns..

If Tayshaun my grandson hadn't woke up they both would have been lost..they did lose everything else..

Get some batteries lol..I know how expensive they are and in Canada they are even more..when I hitched hiked through there in 2004 I just couldn't believe how expensive everything is there omgosh..some friends wanted me to move there..I told them I could never live there I couldn't afford it..I just barely live here..on what I get for disability..I had a blast up there though..I had more fun with those Canadians than I ever had here in the lower 48.. lol..and the Country is absolutely beautiful..they took me to Vancouver on Hwy 1..from Calgary..and back..then I hitched hiked to Prince Rupert and spent 3 days there..staying in a Hostel..met a lot of people from different countries while we were waiting for the Ferry to take us to Alaska..had a blast..I do miss my friends lost their phone numbers after I got back from Alaska..I hope they don't think I just abandoned them..I think of them often..

I'm also glad you are safety aware..but that lighting a straw just freaked me out lol..I am 55 and tend to be a mother to everyone sorry lol..

Have a great day..

Canada is super expensive. Rent on an apartment is above $1200 in most areas, on some recent ads against poverty, they have it at $1800 which is not unreasonable.

I'm in the process of applying for disability due to other reasons, and I know that it's damned near impossible. I'm just outside Vancouver myself.

I'm glad everyone is safe!

Alaska looks beautiful, I've never been there but I've seen extensive footage and photos of it from others. I've been to the California/Mexico border and no further south (besides Hawaii as a baby), and the most north I've been has to probably be the Williams Lake area. I have mostly American friends as well, but we understand how expensive it is to call internationally.

My mother's 51, I understand ;)
